How might we translate the ever-evolving culture of streetwear into a premium concept store?

Our process —

We took the time to understand how established and emerging streetwear brands used design to tell their stories. It is the curious combination of underground and high-end elements, coupled with careful attention to detail and space that makes each of these concepts unique. This is what we wanted to do for Akimbo.

Akimbo’s identity system celebrates subtlety and flexibility. It adapts to their constantly changing collection of brands and trends.

Akimbo: To stand with hands on the hips with elbows turned outward—to be at arms akimbo is to posture confidence and pride. It is an outlook and an attitude to life and emblematic of an inner strength.

The supporting visuals are bold lines and sharp corners, as if at arms akimbo. The logotype is subtle in its strength, yet flexible and premium in application.
