This is a little late, but September 21 marked the sixth anniversary of And A Half. That night, we set up a long table, invited a couple of loved ones, and celebrated the past few years.
Six years ago, we launched our first portfolio. We’ve changed up a lot of things since 2012: We’ve added to our number and moved to a new space. We launched Helping Half and had a great internship program. But this year, we subjected ourselves to our own processes and went through a personal rebrand.
We’ve always believed that design should be geared towards solving problems. We still do. But we’ve been thinking how we might better communicate that to our clients and to everyone else. As generally introverted folk, we’ve always wanted our work to speak for itself. It has always been an uncomfortable exercise for us to talk about ourselves.
But then we realized, why shouldn’t we? The greatest thing about our studio is actually our people. And everyone in our studio does great work.
We added a deep blue to our usual black and white. We’ve ditched Avenir for Halyard and brought back the ampersands. We’re trying to be a little less rigid, a little more intentional.
We’re also trying to talk about ourselves a little more. But we’ll get there. Soon, we hope. &
