Design Challenge —
How might we design a label that boasts of Filipino heritage for an international market?
A project that took years in the making, the biggest challenge was finding a visual that could capture the essence of a Filipino Gin.
Full Circle Craft Distillers asked us to design a bottle they could bring all over the world. They said the label had to give justice to the artistry and craft that went into each bottle. It had to be beautiful but it also had to be uniquely Filipino.
Design solution —
Letras y Figuras was our key visual. An art genre popularized during the Spanish colonial period, it was the perfect medium to tell the story of Archipelago.
After designing the custom logotype, we illustrated each individual scene. Every letter of the logo is unique and depicts every step of the gin-making process.
Drawings of flora and numismatic elements tie everything together. Inspired by the botanical drawings of Fr. Francisco Manuel Blanco, they form a rich tapestry of history, heritage, and Filipino pride.
Archipelago is a product of Full Circle Craft Distillers, a craft distillery located in Calamba, Laguna featuring state-of-the-art custom equipment to handcraft artisanal Philippine spirits. Full Circle will soon open to the public for tours and a museum.
